Description

The Assistant Producer will play a crucial role in the planning of containR and Fluid Festival programming, including artist liaising, contract execution, administrative organization, festival scheduling, company management, and more. This position starts May 26, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Manage programming-focused meeting schedules, attend meetings as required, and maintain meeting documents;
• Assist the Artistic & Operations teams in artist and venue contract execution and organization of all contractual obligations;
• Assist the Creative Producer with company management tasks, including artist welcome packages, travel itineraries, accommodations and travel arrangements, and related costings;
• Contribute artistic insights during programming conversations with the Artistic Director;
• Maintenance of the festival schedule, including performances, technical rehearsals, workshops, and hospitality drop-offs at venues;
• Act as a liaison between Fluid Festival, the contemporary dance community, artists, partners, networks, and stakeholders in Calgary and Western Canada;
• Research and implement ways to connect audiences to contemporary dance performance through 1) encouraging attendance, 2) encourage discussion about performances that the community would like to experience 3) to encourage a conversation about the work and the creating artists;
• In collaboration with the Artistic & Operations team, contribute to the organization’s strategic plan for dance performance;
• Research funding and partner opportunities for contemporary dance performances;
• Acts as a representative for the company within the community, including attendance at other community events.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational skills;
• Excellent customer service skills;
• Knowledge of Google Workspace;
• Basic knowledge of performing arts and venue services;
• Basic knowledge of event technical aspects an asset.
